Sigurd Ressell was a Norwegian furniture designer born in Norway in the early 1920. He was known for his sleek and minimalist designs, which often incorporated elements of Scandinavian design and craftsmanship. Ressell studied at the Norwegian National Academy of Craft and Art Industry in Oslo, where he was taught by the renowned furniture designer Kaare Klint. After completing his studies, Ressell began working as a furniture designer in his own right, eventually establishing his own design studio in the 1950s. Ressell is perhaps best known for his Falcon Chair, which he designed in 1971. The Falcon Chair is a low-slung lounge chair with a bentwood frame and a leather seat. We offer this version of the Falcon chair as well as a stainless steel frame version. Ressell's work is characterized by its simplicity, elegance, and attention to detail. He was deeply influenced by the Scandinavian design tradition, and his work reflects a commitment to quality craftsmanship, natural materials, and understated beauty. Sigurd Ressell died in 2010, but was considered a highly influential designer who played an important role in shaping the modern furniture design landscape.
