The Four Seasons Counter Bar Stool is a cornerstone of mid-century luxury, originally commissioned for the legendary Four Seasons Restaurant in New York City’s Seagram Building. Designed in 1958 by Ludwig Mies van der Rohe in collaboration with Philip Johnson, this stool was created to complement the building's bronze and glass aesthetic. It remains one of the few furniture designs created specifically for a public space that transitioned into a global icon of residential and commercial "International Style" design.

We make two heights of bar stools. This is the counter height stool. We use only high quality 15mm flat stock 304 stainless steel polished to a mirror-like finish. Our upholstery is top-grain leather made at an Italian tannery. The seat cushion contains high resilient - high density polyurethane foam over an internal spring suspension.

  • Hand-Buffed Finish: Constructed from #304-grade stainless steel, each frame is meticulously hand-polished to a mirror finish to ensure lasting brilliance and resistance to corrosion.
  • Low-Profile Backrest: The absence of a backrest will not disrupt the visual lines of a kitchen island or professional bar.

Below are the leather colors we offer for this product. Our Standard Leathers (denoted with the prefix L1) are top-grain, aniline-dyed, and then color corrected with a slight embossing to create a more uniform grain pattern. Our Premium leathers (denoted with the prefix L2) are also top-grain, aniline-dyed but have a soft feel to them and much of the hides natural grain patterns are retained.

Features of our leather include:
  • Top-grain Italian leather from Grade A hides
  • Corrected aniline-dyed (standard) and semi-aniline dyed (premium)
  • Made at Italian tanneries and sent to our factory
  • Have a UV and Moisture Guard built into the non-toxic vegetable dyes
  • Are not split hides or bonded leather
