In comparing our Platner style dining chair and the one DWR/Knoll sells, there are a very slight visual differences in the way we curve our base, but most people don't notice this, or don't mind saving $6,000 per chair. There are some big differences in the way we construct our base, to wit:
- Our frame is made of stainless steel rods 3.5mm which is polished to give the shiny look. Knoll uses mild steel, and then it is chrome plated (or bronze-painted or gold-plated). Chrome plating does give a shinier finish, but it also is subject to bubbling and if gets a deep scratch, there is really no way to easily fix it and depending on the depth of the scratch, the frame can rust.
- Our dimensions are very similar to the Knoll version, where as the low market versions are substantially smaller and the back is at a greater angle.
- We offer less upholstery choices than the Knoll version. We do allow customers to provide their own materials for a small extra charge.
- We also include a clear plastic ring around the bottom to prevent damage to the floor.
