Our Exhibition chair was inspired by the Mies van der Rohe lounge chair made famous at the German Pavilion at the 1929 International Exposition held in Spain. Shown here with Espresso Brown leather, our frame is constructed from premium grade solid bar stock stainless steel. All joints are fully welded, sealed, and seamless. The frame is hand-polished to a mirror-like finish. Four snaps attach the back cushion to the frame; 2 snaps and a belt attach the bottom cushion to the frame.

The cushion surfaces consist of 40 individual top-grain leather panels; each piece is cut and hand-sewn using a hand-rolling welting technique not found in other similar chairs on the market. The seat and back cushions are filled with high resilient - high density polyurethane foam that is CAL117 flame test rated. The cushions are supported by leather straps riveted to the frame and whose top and side edges match upholstery color. Front and top corners of the cushions have no exposed seams. Compared to the other similar chairs on the market, ours is much more comfortable.

How do I know it's the right color for me?

We always recommend that you request swatches from us before making your color choice. With the exception of black, colors are very hard to see accurately online when every screen shows them differently. You can fill out this form to request the colors you are considering: Sample request page

How do I order something with my own provided material?

When choosing the COM route with our products, we ask that you send us the details of the fabric you would like to use, so that we can make sure it will be a good choice for the item. Once approved, you can place your order online by choosing the 'COM' fabric under the drop down options on the product page. Many products have the material requirements listed at the bottom of the 'Details' tab on the product page. If you cannot find them, feel free to send us an email (hello@modernclassics.com) and we will tell you how much material is required. Once the order is placed, you can order the fabric and send it to our warehouse in Washington. Once received, there is a 12 week lead time on the item(s).

What is the typical Shipping Time and Costs

In-stock Products: Usually ship in 5 to 7 days from our warehouse in Bellingham WA, depending on our order volume.
Pre-Order Products: Our production time varies, but typically it is 11 to 13 weeks. Some popular colors may already be in production, so it can be faster.
Shipping Cost Estimates: To get a shipping cost estimate, use the shipping cost estimator on that Shopping Cart page. To get there, you can add a quantity to the CART, then click "View Cart" on the Pop-Up and enter your zip code.

Why is the shipping weight so high? Why doesn't it match the actual weight of the product?

The shipping weight is always different from the actual weight - because the shipping weight is calculated by the dimensions of the shipping box, which is how our carrier bills us to ship our products. This, combined with the cost of diesel, affects the shipping costs. Please note, that we absorb about 60% of the actual shipping costs, so while it's not free shipping, it is highly subsidized.
